where can i find free parking?

Public Parking 5 located at 1444 4th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 is within walking distance and provides up to 90 minutes of free parking. Alternatively public metered parking is available behind Bank of America at 1320 5th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401.

How much does an exam cost?

The fees depend on the type of service required for your eyes and any applicable insurance benefits. Please contact our team to review your insurance benefits that may contribute towards products and services. Co-pays and professional fees must be paid at the time of service.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?

Please bring to your next visit:

  • A government issued form of identification

  • List of your medications including supplements

  • Current and old glasses including sunglasses

  • Current contact lens packages (even empty ones) or previous contact lens prescription

  • We recommend wearing contact lenses before coming to your exam

  • Name of your contact lens solution

WHICH INSURANCE PLANS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We are an open access provider and participate with Vision Service Plan (VSP) and Medicare (PPO Only). Every plan is different, and our team is able to help you review your unique benefits upon request. We are NOT a Medi-Cal provider. If you are unsure if we accept your specific plan, please ask our team to help you discover your benefits.

As an open access provider, your costs with us are transparent and will be reimbursed directly from your insurance company for eye exams, prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, sunglasses, and more. Click the button below to download the most common insurance reimbursement forms.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL OR DO NOT SHOW TO MY APPOINTMENT?

We are committed to providing exceptional care. Unfortunately, when a patient cancels without giving enough notice, it prevents another patient from being seen. We make every effort to mutually respect scheduling conflicts, and require at least 24 hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment. A no-show or late cancellation fee of $85 will apply. We reserve the right to modify your appointment if you do not confirm. If you miss or cancel two appointments without 24-hour notice, you may be unable to schedule any further appointments. You are responsible for this fee; it will not be billed to insurance.

What are my insurance benefits?

If you are concerned about getting an unexpected bill, please contact your insurance company before your appointment to understand the details of your individual plan. Every insurance plan is different, and our team is able to review your unique insurance benefits at any time. Please remember it is your responsibility to know the details of your benefits, deductibles, and co-pays. 

How long does it take to get my contacts and glasses?

Most contact lenses require up to 5 days after an order is placed, and you will be notified as soon as they arrive. Prescription glasses may require up to 14 days depending on the prescription and availability. If purchased with insurance, an order may require additional time because insurance companies require the order to be sent to insurance-contracted facilities. If you feel there is an unusual delay, please contact our team to check on the status of your order.

Why are contact lens exam fees billed separately?

Contact lens exam fees are separate to ensure a thorough evaluation specifically tailored to contact lens wear, including additional tests and time, for your safety and comfort.

Why doesn't my insurance cover my contact lens exam?

Every insurance plan is different. Some vision plans include coverage for contact lens exams, but your specific plan may not. You can contact your plan administrator to see if it can be added.

Why do I have a copay for my eye care services?

Copays are a standard part of insurance plans designed to share the cost of healthcare services between you and your insurance provider. If you believe there is an error, you must contact your plan administrator.

Why doesn't Medicare cover refraction or glasses?

Medicare provides benefits toward medical services only. Routine vision care such as refraction and glasses may are not included.

Why do glasses and contact lens prescriptions have expiration dates?

Glasses and contact lens prescriptions have expiration dates as a crucial aspect of your eye care. Regular updates are essential to safeguard both your eye health and the quality of your vision correction. Since most people's eyes change over time, renewing your prescription ensures any potential underlying eye health issues are promptly identified and addressed, ultimately contributing to the longevity of your clear and healthy vision.
