Dr. Alice Sun is an AMAZING optometrist! I transferred my care from an optometry in Koreatown to Dr. Sun's practice as it is closer to home. Dr. Sun has an incredibly warm disposition; she listened intently to all of my concerns which she laid to rest with her wealth of knowledge, was extremely thorough in her assessment of my eyes (she performed tests I've never even been offered in at my old optometry office!), and took her time with me so I never felt rushed. I feel so lucky to have Dr. Sun as my optometrist now; I've already recommended her to all of my friends & family. Dr. Sun's front desk staff were also extremely inviting and sweet! They worked with me to accommodate me for an appointment time and followed up at various times prior to the appointment to give me friendly reminders, which I always appreciate. I couldn't be happier with this place as my go to optometry. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor, Alice Sun will give you the highest level of professionalism. She is extremely thorough every step of the way. I couldn't ask for a better doctor. I have been referring friends  and colleagues to her. I drive about 60 miles to see her. The price is reasonable, compared to nearby places in Santa Monica. She is generous when it comes to samples. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Sun. – Lisa F.

While on a high school senior trip from North Carolina, one of our students began having a great deal of pain with one of his eyes while walking on Santa Monica Pier. The pain continued to worsen, and the student needed immediate medical assistance. We called several eye care facilities in the local area, described our situation, and explained that we were on a tour and were from out of state. It was near the lunch break time for most facilities and we understood this, but the young man's eye was causing him great pain and he could not wait for another three hours to be seen. After calling several offices and being told that we would have to wait until 3:00pm or later to be seen, we found Sunny Optometry. Once they understood our situation, Dr. Kathleen Phan and her staff, had us immediately bring our student in, and he received immediate care. Within minutes, our student was seen, treated, and back with our group. Upon entering the facility, several employees met us, and could not have been more friendly and professional. Liz, Amy, and Genesis......thank you so much for your kindness and help! Dr. Kathleen Phan......you are the BOMB!!!! A wonderful doctor, with incredible kindness and concern for your patients. Dr. Phan made follow up calls to our student's parents in North Carolina to check on his progress THANK YOU !!!!! If I lived in the Santa Monica area....LIz, Amy, Genesis, and Dr. Phan would absolutely be the ones I would turn to for my personal eye care. My appointment went as planned. Covid-19 protocols were followed when I arrived so it felt like a very protected environment. It was a pleasure meeting Dr. Sun for the first time. I felt like i received a thorough eye exam and she presented alternative suggestions for my type of contact lens wear. The office associates were polite and professional as well. Very good experience. I was a legacy patient of Dr. Weintraub at this location before he retired, so I'd never met Dr. Sun before I showed up in the office and felt like I was taking a bit of a chance. This was my first visit with Dr Sun. Dr Weintraub has been my OD for over 15 years so I trusted his judgement when he announced his retirement and the new doctors who would take over his practice. My first impression of Dr Sun was that she has "bright" energy, earned confidence and knowledge which she shared comfortably with me during our visit. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Mark Weintraub for over 30 years.....yesterday was our last visit with Dr. Weintraub and we are going to miss him.....he is the best we have ever had and it was a bit sad to know this is the last visit with him....we wish him the best of everyting in the future......Dr. Weintraub had wonderful things to say about Dr. Sun and we look forward to meeting her next year for our yearly exams.....but we truly will miss Dr. Weintraub......thanks for a wonderful 30+ year relationship and good luck always.....- Abbey G.
