TempSure Radio Frequency Therapy

TEMPSURE® ENVI FOR DRY EYE TREATMENT
TempSure® Envi radiofrequency treatment may be used as part of an optometric dry eye treatment plan for patients with meibomian gland dysfunction, a common contributor to evaporative dry eye.
The meibomian glands are tiny oil glands located along the eyelids. These glands produce the oil layer of the tear film, which helps keep tears from evaporating too quickly. When the glands become blocked or the oil becomes thickened, patients may experience dryness, burning, watering, redness, fluctuating vision, or contact lens discomfort.
Radiofrequency treatment gently warms the tissue around the eyelids and ocular surface area. This controlled warmth can help soften thickened oils and support improved oil flow from the meibomian glands. The goal is to help stabilize the tear film and reduce dry eye symptoms over time.
This treatment is noninvasive, performed in-office, and does not involve surgery. It is offered for the management of dry eye disease and meibomian gland dysfunction, not for cosmetic or aesthetic purposes.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During treatment, a handheld radiofrequency device is used externally around the eyelid and surrounding eye area. Most patients describe the treatment as warm and comfortable.
A typical session may take less than an hour, depending on the treatment plan recommended by your doctor. After treatment, some patients may notice mild temporary redness or warmth in the treated area, which usually resolves shortly afterward. Most patients can return to normal daily activities immediately.
Radiofrequency treatment may be recommended alone or combined with other dry eye therapies, such as eyelid hygiene, artificial tears, prescription eye drops, warm compresses, meibomian gland expression, or other in-office dry eye treatments.
Results vary from patient to patient. Your doctor will evaluate your symptoms, eyelids, tear film, and meibomian gland function to determine whether radiofrequency treatment is appropriate for your dry eye condition.
ABOUT TEMPSURE® ENVI
TempSure® Envi is a radiofrequency technology that may be used in optometric dry eye care to help support meibomian gland function. These glands play an important role in producing the oil layer of the tear film, which helps prevent tears from evaporating too quickly.
WHAT IS
TEMPSURE ENVI
Radiofrequency treatment is a noninvasive, in-office technology used to help manage dry eye disease related to meibomian gland dysfunction. The treatment gently warms the tissue around the eyelids, helping support healthier oil flow from the meibomian glands. These oils are an important part of the tear film and help reduce tear evaporation. It is a noninvasive procedure that is safe for all skin types and levels of sun exposure, seamlessly integrating into any maintenance routine.
HOW DOES TEMPSURE ENVI WORK?
TempSure® Envi uses gentle radiofrequency energy to warm the tissue around the eyelids and surrounding ocular area. This controlled warming can help soften thickened oils within the meibomian glands, which are the oil-producing glands along the eyelids.
Healthy meibomian gland oil is an important part of the tear film. When these oils become thick or blocked, tears can evaporate too quickly, leading to dry eye symptoms such as burning, stinging, watering, redness, fluctuating vision, and contact lens discomfort.
During treatment, radiofrequency energy is applied externally around the eyelid area. The goal is to support improved meibomian gland function and a healthier tear film. Treatment is noninvasive, performed in-office, and is typically comfortable for most patients.
Radiofrequency treatment may be recommended as part of a broader dry eye care plan after your doctor evaluates your eyes, eyelids, tear film, and meibomian glands. Results vary by patient, and additional therapies may be recommended depending on the severity and cause of your dry eye.
